History of Glasford Bank

Robert A. Meyer, President of Glasford Bank, proudly announced that 2007 marks the 75th year Anniversary of the bank. Mr. Meyer spoke of the history of the bank. He said that a building located at the corner of Main and Hickory (formerly the Cigar Factory) was purchased and remodeling was started. A time lock safe, a fire and burlgar proof vault and many other bank fixtures were installed. Two deposits were received on July 17, 1900 and on the morning of July 18th, the Farmers and Traders Bank of Glasford was open for business. A new brick building on the south side of Main Street was built in 1905. In 1932, Farmers and Traders Bank closed and re-organized as Glasford Bank. In October 1969, a house was moved to make room for what later became the current Glasford Bank site. Through the years, the buildings and faces may have changed, but the commitment of the Glasford Bank has not. We have continued to grow with the needs of the community. From the days of the horse and buggy to 24-hour banking services, our technology has expanded allowing us to service our customers and accommodate their busy lives. The technology has certainly grown, but the bank is proud to maintain that "small town" service to assure our customers that they are not just a number...we care about their needs and wants! We strive to meet their needs and maintain a positive relationship with our neighbors. Bob attributes this success to the loyalty of this communities businesses, the diligence of the competent staff and a management team that continues to bring new ideas and technology to the forefront. Glasford Bank is a strong force in the industry and looks forward to the next 75 years!
